Be Your Best Self

Do Your Best Work. Live Your Best Life.

First, a short rant about excessive AI content

I don’t believe leaning on AI too much to share anyone’s truest, best self.

Lately, I've been seeing online marketers promising to show their buyers how to harness AI so that their business will EXPLODE. Because of this many entrepreneurs are trying their hand at using AI to help them gain visibility. Some of this is useful information, and some is in the 'definitely not useful' category.

We are all seeing more and more AI generated images and AI enhanced videos. Some are pretty good. I do enjoy those that are clever and obviously AI enhanced. However, have you noticed there is often a ‘creep’ factor in a good number of the 'realistic-looking' ones? Just what is our unconscious mind noticing about those, the ones that make us cringe and swipe quickly past?

I worry a bit about those people who believe pretty much whatever they are looking at online When I see some of what they are sharing online or in conversation without any discernment for truth, no filter for reality, no common sense.

For example, I’ve had conversations with people who have been impressed about a social media post and are planning to buy a program and have asked me what I think about it. They describe an incredibly fit mature person telling them they barely have to lift a finger to have that physique in just a few short weeks ... and they don't realize that particular 'person' in the video has been AI generated. I've seen those videos flooding my feed - I know exactly which ones they are talking about - and I can't believe they haven't noticed what should be obvious. The 'person' talking is 100% fake, a little too fit, too smooth looking, too perfect, speaking a bit un-naturally.

Messages are going straight into their brains about how this or that will make them ‘this’ or ‘that’ so much faster, with less effort and make them so much more successful than anything else they have ever tried. AI is getting scarily good and their messages are alluring.

Studies show how easily we can be swayed by images, colour, sound. It used to take expensive ad agencies to do this at a high level but now almost anyone can create persuasive content. Puff something up. Add a bit of glow. The problem with this is in relying on AI enhanced promo copy. There is almost no-one who can deliver what AI churns out, so make sure to edit that output to talk about what you actually provide, please.

Have you gotten pretty good at glancing at something and choosing to scroll right on past because you just know at a glance that it’s AI generated and don’t want to give it a toehold in your brain? If that's happening for you, what about the people you are seeking to attract? There’s just tooooo much AI and I'm getting tired of seeing it. Someone in my family keeps showing me 'amazing' real videos and I blurt 'that's definitely AI'... and they say 'noooo, it isn't marked as AI'. Take a second look because many of these defy the laws of physics. What a waste of time, unless it's entertainment you seek. Then knock yourself out.

The pendulum is already swinging back as people are starting to crave authenticity.

Why does showing your authenticity matter?

If you are reading this post, you are probably a solopreneur. This article is simply to remind you that when all is said and done, and all the tech has been tried, remember that people do business with real people. If you’re selling something where a relationship develops with the client because of your offer, most buyers will want to know sooner rather than later if how authentic you are, even if you're not perfect. They want a solution without false promises. If you don't show up as yourself from the start, this client won't keep buying from you when you have additional amazing offers for them. I have heard the easiest sale you'll ever make is to a fan.

How can we whisper through all the noise?

These days, when I see a real face that is not smoothed out by AI, sharing a real message that isn’t being delivered from a teleprompter, I’m much more likely to watch and engage. Do you agree?

When someone shows up speaking from their heart, sharing their passion and showing up as their best self, I stop to listen. I believe there are many more like me out there... especially in the 35-70 year old age bracket, and if those are whom you seek to serve, have fun using AI to improve grammar and flow of original draft and gain insights from suggestions. Just take the time to carefully check the output to ensure there isn't any inaccurate information or anything that it detracts from your unique voice.

But, like me, do you prefer seeing a real image of someone at work or play? Something that shares something about them, their character, their values? When I choose to buy a service or a product, I decide based on the rapport I feel towards the provider. I am looking for someone who matches my key values and understands what I want and what I need. How do we get that inclination to want to know more about you, when your feed is heavy with AI generated 'good-looking' content?

I sense that there will soon be a time when those who need AI to do all the promotional ‘heavy lifting’ will feel backlash from customers who aren’t getting what persuasive AI ads or content has promised them.

This leads to…..

Do Your Best Work

Maybe you grew up in a time when our models placed a lot of emphasis on showing up and delivering value. No matter what. Do the work you promised. Give the outcome they are seeking. Every time. Smiling is not optional. Love what you’re doing. Let yourself shine!

Sessions can occur either in-person or during a Zoom meeting. The satisfaction I gain from watching clients release pain and increase range of motion within just a few appointments, or even just a few minutes, is extraordinarily rewarding.
